We took a group of 11 S5 and 6 pupils to the University of Highlands and Islands in Inverness for a UCAS event on Tuesday 3rd October. The aim of the event was to give prospective higher education students the opportunity to meet and chat to representatives from a wide variety of university establishments as well as some of the armed forces, Colleges and other relevant organisations. Our pupils were given time to visit the different stalls; talk to the representatives about courses, entry requirements, and any questions they have. Pupils also had the opportunity to attend 2 seminars on ‘Writing a Personal Statement’ and on the ‘UCAS Application Process.’ Marie Ann Weir our SDS / Careers adviser also attended and she was able to encourage and direct pupils to the relevant people. It was a long way to travel but the general feeling from pupils is that it was worthwhile and we are happy to take any opportunity to Develop our Young Workforce. We took a group of 11 S5 and 6 pupils to the University of Highlands and Islands in Inverness for a UCAS event on Tuesday 3rd October.
