Congratulations and a huge well done to Niamh MacLellan who represented Ardnamurchan High School in the Springboard Scotland Future Chef North of Scotland Regional Final in Inverness on Monday.
Niamh kept her nerve under stressful conditions to take 3rd place overall from 9 young chefs. This is an incredible achievement for Niamh's first entry at this level and we are proud of her success and excited about the coming years. Niamh, who is in S3, cooked Pan Fried Duck Breast, wild mushroom gnocci, savoy cabbage and pancetta parcels with a blackcurrant sauce, followed by Champagne poached peaches and greek yoghurt terrine with a peach sorbet.
Our grateful thanks go to Bryan MacDonald, Head Chef, at Crannog Seafood Restaurant for his commitment and mentoring, and to the restaurant for their support. Thanks also to our West Highland College tutor, Michael Campbell, for his support in class and finally a huge thanks to Niamh's family for their support and for eating endless duck portions!
